Storm Stories

Violent thunderstorms rumbled through our area yesterday and last night. Tragedy struck both Alabama and Georgia. Eight students were killed in an Enterprise, Alabama high school, not far from where I used to live. Please pray for these dear families during their time of loss.

From time to time, the Weather Channel features an hour long series called "Storm Stories". They interview storm survivors, then talk to the experts like Dr. Greg Forbes or Dr. Steve Lyons to explain all the specifics of that particular storm.

I mention this because in life we encounter storms. The storms of life tend to rock our worlds. Violent storms strike our families, marriages, churches and the like. Someone once said that you are either in a storm, or about to enter one, or have just come out of one. How true.

When the next storm hits in your life, just turn to God's Word. It is full of "Storm Stories". The characters in the Bible are not exempt from the storms of life (beginning with Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, and the list goes on....). Then the storm expert, God Himself, comes in and gives commentary on what to do in a storm, on how to prepare and how to react in the storms of life. Passages like James 1:2-3, "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience...." and I Thess.5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you...." (just to name a few). Good advice from the "Storm Expert".
And remember, He's the Master of the Sea, the One who calms the storms! I say praise His Holy Name! God bless you this Friday,
Bro. Royce
