He's Alive!
Sargent Baptist,
The Lord continues to amaze us in what He is doing and the opportunities He continually puts before us. We set our High Attendance goal, for Sunday School, at 150. Praise God we had 180! We’re excited about our new directories that are now a work in progress. We’ve had some new additions and rededications. We are now preparing for one of Sargent’s largest mission trips ever, as we prepare to go to the Georgia Baptist Children’s home in the first week of April. We’ve set aside the second week of April as a week of prayer as we pray for our upcoming car show and revival. We’re praying for God to give us many opportunities to share our faith on April 14th. Then we pray that God would speak in and through brother Jay Moore during revival. Our Youth are looking forward to “Overflow” on April 20th. And we close out April with a 5th Sunday Sing April 29th with “The Ties That Bind” from Sand Hill Baptist. These and many more opportunities are before us. Let’s be faithful in all of these opportunities to see lives changed for His glory.
But the greatest day in April will be April 8th, Resurrection Morning! None of these other opportunities would happen if it were not for the empty tomb. It doesn’t take one long to realize how the resurrection of Christ radically changed the disciples. Peter’s fear was changed into courage and James’ doubt into faith. It was the resurrection, which changed Saul the Pharisee into Paul the Apostle and turned his persecution into preaching. It was the resurrection, which changed the Sabbath into Sunday and the Jewish remnant into the Christian Church. All of this transformation because of one of my favorite passages in Luke 24:5-6: “…why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” Oh how that changed everything. And oh how it has changed me. But unfortunately, there are many people who still seek for Him among the dead. Dead religion will not save you. Jesus is not there. He is alive! The leaders of all other religions are still in the grave. Jesus is not. He is at the right hand of the Father seated in heaven (Eph.1:20). He is the One in whom I have placed my trust—Jesus the One and only One who has conquered death. Have you placed your faith in Him? If not, why? He is offering you the free gift of salvation. Why not receive Him today? You’ll be eternally glad you did. Hallelujah what a Savior!
In Christ,
