The King's Heralds

Revelation 10. We've seen six trumpets thus far. Now there is an interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpet, just as there was an interlude between the sixth and seventh seal (7:1-8:6). This interlude, which begins at 10:1 and runs through 11:14, prepares us for the seventh trumpet (11:15-19). In this parenthetical interlude, there are two sets of forerunners to the Second Coming of Christ: 1) A Powerful Angel- 10:1ff. And 2) Two Witnesses- 11:3ff. These two sets of forerunners [one angelic and two human] are two sets of heralds of Christ's Kingdom. In the Bible, the King is always preceded by His heralds. Remember, John the Baptist was the herald to Jesus' first coming.
And, in addition to these two sets of forerunners in Revelation, you and I are heralds to Christ's Second Coming. 'We are ambassadors for Christ', according to 2 Cor.5:20, 'given the ministry of reconciliation, that is God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.' -2 Cor.5:18-19. When our United States Ambassador goes to a foreign country, he goes on behalf of the president. He represents the (king) president and brings the words of the president, not words of his own opinion; but words of his superior, his boss--the Commander in Chief. And by the same token, you and I represent our King. We are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven representing the King of Kings, proclaiming His Word, not our opinion. And His Word states that He is coming soon. And His Word is the Gospel that saves. His Word is the Gospel of the Kingdom (Matt.4:23). And we are to share this saving Gospel with a lost world, as His soon return is drawing nigh.
